ABUS, a worldwide industry leader in safety and security solutions starts a multi-year strategic partnership with the NBA team Phoenix Suns. It is the first bigger marketing engagement of ABUS in the United States and at the same time the first partnership of the Phoenix Suns in the category of security technology.

„Basketball is a vital part of the culture in the USA. Through our partnership with the Phoenix Suns, we want to emotionalize our brand and increase the brand awareness of ABUS in North America even further. Our home security operations are headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona and we are very happy that we found a local partner with a nationwide presence.” says Christian Rothe, member of the ABUS executive board who is responsible for Brand and Corporate Communications. The partnership agreement was initiated and negotiated by sports agent and former ATP tennis professional Florian Krumrey, who is convinced that basketball will be the perfect platform for ABUS to strengthen the brand in a manner that impacts the business in the North American market.

The campaign’s claim: „Protect What You Love“

ABUS and the Suns are encouraging the fans to “Protect what you love” and as part of the multi-year agreement, ABUS will have a prominent presence in- and around-arena. For the first time for ABUS, a TV commercial was produced which will be running on US television and on all digital ABUS and Suns channels and broadcasts. The communication is rounded off by a supporting digital campaign, enter-to-win activities, outdoor advertising, pr and pos measures with Suns player appearances. With the campaign that was developed by the Austrian agency Spectrum from Innsbruck (Markus Erler, Creative Director), ABUS and the basketball franchise want to remind the fans and consumers how important it is not to leave the things unsecured that are dear to you. In celebration of the newly-forged partnership, Suns rookie Josh Jackson, who is projected to be one of the team’s key defenders, will open the Suns locker room to fans around the world and host a unique behind-the-scenes tour on the Suns’ and ABUS Facebook page on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. (Phoenix time).
