AFFING – 31 January 2019 – ABUS has won this year’s iF DESIGN AWARD and can therefore count itself among the recipients of this world-renowned design label. The prize was awarded to a camera series in ABUS’ professional video range, which was entered into the product category “1.07 TV / Cameras” under the name “German Sandwich Design”. The iF DESIGN AWARD is awarded annually by the world’s oldest independent design institution, iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hanover, Germany.
The iF Award jury has once again awarded ABUS’ professional video surveillance cameras top marks for product design, giving the 2019 iF Award to a product series characterised by its particularly straightforward and fast installation. ABUS had to fend off plenty of competition, with the 67-strong, independent and international jury tasked with selecting a recipient of the coveted quality seal from 6400 submissions from 50 countries.
The new award-winning 2-8 megapixel “advanced series” dome cameras currently consist of three models. The installation time has been significantly reduced thanks to their intelligent design. Just like a classic sandwich, the cameras have a three-part structure and are just as easy to assemble: Once the base plate has been installed, it’s just a matter of installing the camera module and camera dome. This significantly cuts the amount of time installers have to spend on ladders, sometimes at great heights (e.g. in hotel lobbies), which has a positive effect in terms of occupational safety.
