True to the motto “In search of excellence”, the 2014 Red Dot jury once again sought out the best examples of international product design. The competition was tough: 1,816 manufacturers, designers and architects from 53 countries took part in the competition. ABUS, the specialist for mobile security, was awarded the coveted Red Dot Quality Seal for its folding lock uGrip Bordo 5700.

Demonstrate our expertise

“We are delighted to be able to demonstrate our expertise in one of the biggest product design competitions in the world and to measure ourselves against the best in the field,” said Torsten Mendel, Marketing and PR Manager of Mobile Security Germany at ABUS.

The uGrip Bordo 5700 is the most recent addition to the successful Bordo lock range and brilliantly fuses reliable security with a cool design. The sophisticated link construction combines security and flexibility with a lightweight and compact design. Available in five modern colours and with a pronounced purity of form, the uGrip Bordo is the perfect companion for style-conscious cyclists with specific security requirements.

Tested, analysed and evaluated

The lock’s innovative design quality convinced the international Red Dot panel of experts. During an evaluation process over several days, the 40 members of the Red Dot jury tested, analysed and evaluated a total of 4,815 designs. The ceremonial presentation of the Red Dot Awards will take place during the Red Dot Gala on 7 July 2014 in the Aalto Theatre in Essen.
