This year ABUS is 100 years old! Let's raise our glasses together. We cordially invite you and your companion to a sociable and sporting event. Social, because we will be celebrating in one of the most beautiful and atmospheric guild houses in Zurich, and sporty, because with the World Championship Elite Cycling Race, the top cycling stars will be racing past us seven times - and you will be able to watch from the front (window) row!

Zunfthaus zur Zimmerleuten

A guild house steeped in history right in the heart of Zurich

The Zunfthaus zur Zimmerleuten, the home of the Zunft zur Zimmerleuten, was built in its current form in the 18th century, although traces of previous buildings on this site date back to the 12th century. In 2007, the guild house fell victim to a devastating fire. The building was then rebuilt down to the last detail and today shines even more beautifully on the Limmatquai. We look forward to welcoming you to our event in this unique building.

Experience the World Cycling Championships from pole position

The Zunfthaus zur Zimmerleuten is located directly on the Limmatquai. The riders of the elite men's cycling world championship race will race through here exactly seven times.

The Zunftsaal of the Zunfthaus zur Zimmerleuten offers you a unique opportunity to watch and cheer on the riders at close quarters every time they cross the Stadthaus Bridge and turn into the Limmatquai. Bad weather? No problem - protected from the weather by the many windows on the upper floor, you can be there up close without getting wet.

What can you expect?

Programme

11.30 - 12.00: Arrival of guests - aperitif

from approx. 12.00 noon: first pass by the main field of the men's elite world championship cycling race - then 6 more pass bys, approx. every 30 minutes

from 12.30 pm: Flying lunch with cold, warm and sweet snacks, spread loosely over the whole afternoon

in between a few interesting insights and explanations:

- Mr Philippe Blouney, Guild Master of the Zunft zur Zimmerleuten on the history of the guild house and the Zunft zur Zimmerleuten

- Mrs Sandra Stöckli, active, world-class handbiking athlete from Switzerland, who will introduce us to her exciting cycling discipline and give us a first-hand account of the World Championship course (she herself will be competing in the World Championships a few days beforehand!)

- Mr Bruno Schenk, participant of the next Race across America 2025, who will show us how the elaborate planning for such an extraordinary sporting event is done.

- Mr Bremicker from the owner family of ABUS will give us a few words and thoughts on the 100th anniversary of ABUS

approx. 5.00 p.m. - Closing and farewell, after the last passage of the World Championship field

Good to know

Dress code:

Smart casual: we are celebrating a noble anniversary in a beautiful setting - but in the context of a sporting event. We therefore ask you to dress casually.

Accessibility:

  • by train: the Zunfthaus zur Zimmerleuten is within walking distance of Zurich main station (approx. 15 min - 1km) or Stadelhofen S-Bahn station (approx. 10 min - 700m)
  • by car: use car parks in the city of Zurich (e.g. Urania car park (approx. 9 min - 650m), Hohe Promenade car park (approx. 8 min - 550m) - please note traffic restrictions due to the World Cup event!
  • by plane: via Zurich Airport - Kloten, then by train directly from the airport to Zurich main station
