Freudenstein Castle in Freiberg, Germany
Comprehensively protected castle through convenient reversible key system with high security
Freudenstein Castle was built in 1168 to protect the silver mining industry. Around 1500, Duke Henry the Pious resided in the castle, which in the following centuries was converted into a military base, arsenal, military hospital and granary. From 2005 to 2008 the castle was fundamentally restored. Today, Freudenstein Castle houses the world's largest collection of minerals, the mining archive of the city of Freiberg and a restaurant. Multiple ABUS lock cylinders were used to secure the historic walls of the castle.
