Crossbar

Also called a reinforced door bar lock. Effective protective measure for doors. Both the opening and hinge sides of the door are heavily protected. Crossbars have a high deterrent effect. Models are available for front doors as well as basement doors

Heavy crowbar, used in the "prying open" break-in method (see also cow's foot)

Cylinder guard

special cylinder cover for escutcheon plates and door fittings. Protects the profile cylinder from violent attacks

Cylinder length

Depending on door thickness and fitting thickness, door cylinders are of different lengths, see chapter Home security/Door deadlock/Door cylinder

Distance measure

denotes the distance from the centre of the profile cylinder to the centre of the door knob. In Germany, 72 mm for corridor doors and 92 mm for front doors

Door thickness

This refers to the thickness of the door leaf

Door viewer

Wide-angle lens in the door leaf, usually 200 degrees viewing angle

Door width

This refers to the dimension of the door leaf. This does not include the case (frame)

Double ball locking

special protective measure for U-shackle locks against twisting and pulling out of the shackle on both shackle sides

Double-bit key

Bearded key with prongs on both sides, thus higher number of different closures, e.g. safes

Double casement window security lock

special security for double casement windows with middle bar, e.g. ABUS DFS 95

Drilling template

Aids for the ideal fixing of window and door locks

Drill protection

Protection and inhibition of the door cylinder by hard metal pins against drilling out

Drill recesses

spherical recesses for reversible keys in different depths, no serrations

Emergency function

The door can be unlocked from the outside even if the key is inserted inside
