E-BIKE OR PEDELEC?
The coinage pedelec (made up from pedal/electric/cycle) describes the functional principle of almost all e-bikes available today: they provide support in pedaling. Regular pedelecs support up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph) and in legal terms are simply bicycles. S-pedelecs are mopeds and don't reach their limit until 45 km/h (28 mph). To reach that, however, you have to be working really hard.
In this case you need to have an insurance sticker on the bike, have a driver's license and wear a helmet. In everyday language all of these bikes are simply called e-bikes. Also because the actual e-bike with throttle grip instead of pedaling support has nearly ceased to exist.
SUITABLE THEFT DETERRENCE
