Ride all in AIRBREAKER EVOLUTION

It remains a true AirBreaker. It carries the same DNA, speaks the same design language - and it has become better. More ventilation. More aerodynamics. More protection.

How could our developers improve a road bike helmet that many consider perfect? From wind tunnel testing to professional feedback to self-testing, we have refined it with passion and precision – so that it propels you forward when you give it your all.

Highlight Features 1/2

Whether at full speed or on tough climbs - you keep a cool head.

The integrated Acti Cage™ structure is an additional protective shield for your head.

The aerodynamic goggle holder with rubber grip optimises a really secure hold.

First, we created a digital version of the basic idea and subjected it to virtual wind tunnel tests. But real performance doesn't show up on the screen. So we soon took the prototypes into real wind tunnels. Again and again we tested, measured, adapted, discarded and rethought.

We put the helmet, and the Aero Blade in particular, to the test without compromise: from different angles, at different inclinations and speeds. We did this until every airflow found its ideal path. The result is an impressively lightweight road bike helmet that challenges the wind: with noticeably better ventilation and impressive aerodynamics.

The Aero Blade is a real highlight - inspired by the development of the GameChanger 2.0 and optimised with injected carbon for high stability and low weight. The Aero Blade combines what seemingly cannot be combined: Aerodynamics and ventilation.

Two things happen here at the upper rear of the helmet. The cooling airflow is channelled and increased, while at the same time the air resistance is reduced. Not a product of chance, but the measurable result of ideas and tests.

Highlight Features 2/2

Adjust the helmet precisely to your head - thanks to the smooth adjustment system with practical pigtail opening.

The Mips version offers increased protection against the effects of rotational forces.

Probably the quickest way to close the helmet: one click with the FIDLOCK magnetic fastener of the Mips version.

From professionals for professionals

If you want to develop a high-performance racing bike helmet, you need to know the requirements, difficulties and wishes of professional athletes.

The collaboration between product development and professional athletes makes the helmet a top product. Cat Ferguson from the Movistar team demonstrates the demands that professional athletes place on good equipment:

“Nowadays it’s not only aero and lightweight that we need from a helmet it’s also safety and knowing that in my opinion I’m wearing one of the most high quality helmets on the market is an extra boost of confidence and reassurance when in the peloton fighting for everything.”

In October 2024, the ABUS development team travelled to Pamplona in Spain to put the AirBreaker 2.0 through its paces together with the Movistar Men's WorldTour Team. The focus was on final adjustments in the wind tunnel, optimising the ventilation and fine-tuning the aerodynamics of the carbon structure.

Together with professional riders such as Enric Mas, Einer Rubio and Iván Romeo as well as the team's technical staff, every detail was scrutinised - from the belt seat to the airflow. The aim: maximum efficiency in terms of speed, ventilation and comfort.

With the help of wind tunnel data and thermal comparisons, the airflow management was optimised down to the last detail. Together with riders and engineers, we have revised the ventilation system and ensured that the aerodynamics of the helmet are directly translated into real speed and cooling.

"The Movistar team and its technical director demand facts, i.e. technical data. Only what is convincing in the wind tunnel is used. At this level, numbers decide victories." Lukas Tamajka, Product Manager Racing Helmets

Every second counts. Every watt counts.
The AirBreaker 2.0 has been optimised for real competition conditions - together with the most demanding riders of the Movistar team. Because real performance is not created in the laboratory, but on the road.

In January 2025, we met the Movistar Team Women in Valencia to refine the women's-specific details of the AirBreaker 2.0, among other things. The focus was on adjustments for longer hair and braids, the interface with sunglasses and the interplay of fit, padding and comfort.

Thanks to direct feedback from professionals such as Liane Lippert, Jelena Erić and Cat Ferguson, the adjustment system has been further developed - specifically tailored to the ergonomics and needs of women in professional sport.

"Women shouldn't have to choose between performance and comfort. They deserve equipment that can keep up when they give it their all - for top performance without compromise."
Lukas Tamajka, Product Manager Road Bike Helmets

A helmet optimised for women is more than just a smaller men's size: the AirBreaker 2.0 has not only been adapted - but deliberately developed further with a focus on the demands that female athletes in the peloton place on a performance helmet.
